About

Chinese painting and pictorial art from the Bronze Age to the end of the Sung dynasty (1279 A.D.): tomb paintings and reliefs, Buddhist cave-paintings, courtly art and imperial patronage, and landscapes. Materials and techniques, art theory, and the relationship between painting and calligraphy will also be considered.
