Economics/Political Science
Offered at IU Bloomington by College of Arts and Sciences.
About
The interdepartmental major leading to a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Political Science and Economics explores important issues arising in both the public and private sectors and provides students with the basic theoretical tools necessary to investigate these issues.
Students are required to take foundational courses in economics, two math courses, and a statistics class. Political science offers course options in Institutional Analysis and Governance, Politics in the Developing World, Politics of the European Union, and International Political Economy, among others. Economics offers upper-level coursework in International Trade, Monetary Economics, Economic Development, and others.
The program introduces students to the methods used by each of the two disciplines to study public-sector and private-sector decision-making as well as the role of government in a complex society. Students who choose this interdepartmental major often plan to attend law school or to work in public policy careers or business.
