Pursuing a Ph.D. in computer science will prepare you for a career in industry, research labs, or academia by giving you the tools you need to conduct theoretical and practical research in the broad range of fields covered by computer science.
Our students learn about and conduct cutting-edge research in many areas of CS, including artificial intelligence, Big Data, bioinformatics, machine learning, programming languages, security, software engineering, theory, and others, while working alongside world-renowned experts. Students are also required to complete a Ph.D. minor, allowing them to pursue their passion more deeply.
Luddy Ph.D. recipients have gone on to careers with companies such as Microsoft, Apple, Google, Electronic Arts, and many others. They also have moved on to top research laboratories and become faculty members at prestigious universities around the world.
