Law in Liberal Arts BA/Law MJ

Doctor of Jurisprudence

About

IU Indianapolis students who hope to pursue a law degree may be eligible to participate in an accelerated 3+3 program and earn a B.A./J.D. from the IU Indianapolis School of Liberal Arts and IU McKinney School of Law. This program enables students to earn a bachelor's and a law degree in six years instead of the standard seven, which saves the student one year of undergraduate tuition.

Program eligibility:

To be eligible, students must submit the BA/JD application to the IU Indianapolis School of Liberal Arts by March 1 of their freshman year. Students must meet certain eligibility requirements, including a minimum high school grade point average of 3.5 and a 50th percentile SAT or ACT score.

During their junior year, the selected students will apply to the McKinney School of Law for admission to the J.D. program by the law school's early decision deadline of November 15. The application is to be submitted through the Law School Admission Council's website (LSAC.org) using the Credential Assembly Service (CAS). Applicants who are part of the B.A./J.D. 3+3 program are not guranteed admission and will be reviewed by the Admissions Committee through the normal admissions process, with a decision by the end of December.
