About

Students earning a Ph.D. in Mathematical Sciences have the option to specialize in one of three areas: pure mathematics, applied mathematics, or mathematical statistics.

Our department is currently doing research in integrable systems, mathematical physics, dynamical systems, noncommutative geometry, operator algebras, differential geometry, partial differential equations, functional analysis, statistics and probability, applied mathematics, biomathematics, computational neurosciences, and scientific computing.

The Ph.D. program requires completion of at least 90 credit hours of graduate work. An awarded M.S. degree from an accredited university may contribute up to 30 credit hours toward this requirement, subject to approval.
