Here, you'll work in small, intimate classroom settings with prestigious faculty who are curious and passionate about the same subjects you are! In addition to the extensive laboratory and classroom experiences offered through the chemistry program, research opportunities are also available through IU Kokomo's Undergraduate Research Summer Institute (URSI). You can also engage in individual study, which involves selecting a research area of interest, developing that research, and then presenting your findings both in writing and in an oral presentation. You can earn up to 12 elective credit hours through independent study. Research experience is highly encouraged for students who want to attend medical school. It is also highly desirable for students considering graduate studies.

The the Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Chemistry centers on a traditional core that includes organic, analytical, inorganic, physical chemistry, biochemistry and mathematics. Good scientists also need to be exposed to other fields of knowledge—to the arts, social sciences, and humanities. That's why our chemistry curriculum also includes course requirements in subject areas such as history, English, sociology, psychology, foreign languages, mathematics, and information sciences.
