About
An English language arts teaching degree provides a broad and comprehensive range of experiences that prepare one for the challenges and opportunities of teaching media-rich content in the twenty-first century. Candidates in this program learn to analyze and interpret all forms of media, develop strategies for writing in various modalities, and develop strategies for listening and speaking effectively. Candidates explore and examine methods for studying and teaching language arts as an inquiry process. During the degree program one will have many opportunities to work with middle and high school students and teachers. Completion of this degree enables one to be licensed by the State of Indiana to teach English and language arts classes in grades 5–12.
