Bachelor of Arts

About

The Theatre and Dance Department offers a program of study that leads to a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) or Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree in Theatre.

The Bachelor of Arts in Theatre gives students a broad introduction to and experience in the various ways theatre artists study, interpret, and articulate the world in which we live. This is a highly well-rounded degree that aims to create a foundational knowledge of theatre from which students can pursue work in their chosen field and/or further graduate study as stage managers, directors, designers, performers, technicians, and much more. The B.A. student chooses much of their focus and ultimate path through this degree experience.

The BFA programs of study provide the necessary background and opportunities to serve as the catalyst for students to pursue careers in theatre, and in theatre-related fields, as well as for further opportunities in higher education. The thrust of the program is curricular and cocurricular. Academic requirements and opportunities provided in classroom-studios are integrated with the artistic, craft, and processes necessary for cocurricular production activities.

The BFA concentrations are acting performance, dance performance, and design/technical.

Specialties are available in costuming, costume design, lighting design, scenic design, technical direction, and musical theatre performance.
