Introduction to Swahili, a major African language spoken in East Africa, e.g., Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda. Basic grammatical structures and vocabulary. Emphasis on spoken language and listening comprehension, language use in specific social settings, and appropriate cultural features (e.g., foods, clothing, marriage, etc.). Student projects.
