This course explores in depth Chinggis Khan's Mongol empire from its origins in the 13th century to the continent-wide break down of the 1330-1370s. Format alternates lectures and discussion of primary sources (Mongolian, Chinese, Middle Eastern, and European) in translation, including many of the medieval era's greatest histories and travelogues.
