Introductory Uyghur I introduces basic Uyghur language: the Uyghur script, phonetic rules, and basic grammar of the literary Uyghur language. Students also learn about Uyghur lifestyle, society and culture. Daily class activities involve: conversations; pronunciation, vocabulary, and grammar exercises; simple dialogues and texts. Considerable independent preparation outside of class required.
