This course gives a basic knowledge of Chaghatay, the classical version of Uzbek and the common literary language of all Central Asian Turks from the 15th to the early 20th century. The course surveys Chaghatay literature, grammar, and the writing system together with the reading of Chaghatay texts, chiefly historical.
