Introduction to nuclear science covering the properties, structure, and reactions of nuclei. The energetics and kinetics of radioactivity are studied. Models presented include the liquid drop (macroscopic properties) and the shell (microscopic properties) models. Topics covered include: origin of the elements, nuclear power, biological effects of radiation, and radiocarbon dating.
