A study of historical evolution and contemporary dynamics of Japanese business with emphasis on the role of government policy in regulating and promoting business activity. Topics will include: government, business, and postwar economic growth in Japan; labor-management relations; economic interests and political power; and U.S.-Japanese trade relations.
