Introduces the folklore, music, public celebrations, and foodways of South Louisiana, the Texas-Mexico Border, and Appalachia. Explores how these regions have been represented by insiders and outsiders, how local traditions interact with national and global frameworks, and how America has been defined through comparison/contrast with these regional cultures.
