Focusing on a variety of literary genres, this course explores Modernity and its methods for conceptualizing the world (Enlightenment, Romanticism, Realism, Naturalism). It will explore the shifting landscape through such cultural constructs as authorship, gender and sexuality, social class and Metropolitanism, and regional and national power.
