LAW-B 580: CIVIL RIGHTS STATUTES (2 - 3 credits)

About

A study of various federal civil rights laws, such as Title VI of the 1964 Civil Rights Act, Title IX of the 1972 Education Amendments, and the 1991 Americans with Disabilities Act. These civil rights statutes prohibit discrimination (on the basis of race, sex, disabilities, age, religion, and other bases), provide remedies, or otherwise protect against public or private action beyond the direct reach of the Constitution. The course explores the details and wisdom of these various statutes.
