Explores Maya cultures, peoples, prophecies, histories, cosmologies, rituals, literatures, hieroglyphs, politics, poetry, spiritualities, time, calendars, rap music videos, and revitalization in México, Guatemala and Belize. The focus on contemporary Maya includes an historical overview of Maya civilization from origins to nation states. Students learn an inter-disciplinary cultural approach relying on film, fiction, and popular media.
