This course is a global historical survey of the Anthropocene, a geological age defined by humanity's transformation of the planet. It examines the Anthropocene as both historical process and as an historically contextualized scientific concept. This course explores socio-cultural conditions shaping the Anthropocene, including imperialism, industrialization, capitalism, urbanization, and globalization.
