The course focuses on the practical aspects of representing a client before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. The course deals with all facets of patent law from the initial client contact (conflicts checks), soliciting full invention disclosure from the client, prior art searching and patentability opinions, preparing the patent application and claims, dealing with the patent office and responding to Examiner Office Actions, the patent issuance process, practice in corresponding foreign jurisdictions and a variety of post-issuance topics.
