This course focuses on aspects of neuroscience relevant to legal decision-making. Subjects addressed will include an overview of brain structure, relevance of brain to behavior, an exploration of medical and scientific tools used to better understand the brain, and applications of this knowledge to areas such as the adolescent brain, addictions, and psychopathy. Advances in neuroscience may well challenge traditional understandings of concepts such as culpability, propensity, and responsibility.
