About
Foundations of clinical practice 2 is an integrated series of lectures, small-group discussions, and simulated patient encounters along with a clinical component. The course provides instruction in fundamentals of clinical skills and expands on what the students have learned in FCP year 1: taking a patient history adding in the review of systems as well as expanding on differential diagnosis and adding a problem list, documenting a patient encounter and performing a physical examination of a normal adult. Students are also introduced to social determinants of health, barriers to care, healthcare policy, preventative health, advanced communication, interprofessional education, and systems based practices. Professionalism, ethics and the continued development of students into healthcare providers are addressed throughout the course.
