SOC-S 355: STATISTICS FOR SOCIAL & HEALTH PROFESSIONALS (3 credits)

Provides an introduction to the basic concepts of statistical analysis including probability and sampling, levels of measurement, descriptive statistics, bivariate analysis, and multiple regression as used in sociology and other health-related professions. Students will learn how statistics can be used to answer substantive research questions, how to interpret results, and draw conclusions. Students will acquire the ability to critically evaluate data and methods used by sociologists and other social scientists and how to be discerning consumers of research news presented in the mass media.
