This course is an introduction to the field of School Psychology. It focuses on the history of the profession and examines the role and function of school psychologists. Introduced early in the semester, theory (behavior theory and social learning theory) and multicultural diversity permeate all course activities and discussion. The course also provides an overview of the organization and operations of schools, and topics include the role of special education, ethical and legal issues, and school psychologists as data-based problem-solvers.
