East Asian Languages & Cultures
Offered at IU Bloomington by College of Arts and Sciences
About
The B.A. in East Asian Languages & Cultures emphasizes the study of Chinese, Korean, and/or Japanese language and is complemented by coursework on topical issues (e.g., literature, film, history, international relations, politics, religion, and society) taught by our large multidisciplinary faculty.
Students are required to demonstrate proficiency at least through the end of third-year Chinese, Japanese, or Korean.
Students in the EALC major select one of the four tracks: Chinese, Japanese, Korean, or Language Flagship—Chinese. (The Language Flagship Chinese track is designed for students accepted to the IU Chinese Flagship Program.)
