About
The Accelerated Master's Program (AMP) in Geography allows you to obtain your master's degree in a shorter amount of time. Students begin taking graduate courses in their senior year and typically complete their graduate courses in one additional year.
Our Master of Arts in Geography requirements are sufficiently flexible to allow you to create a program that meets your career and academic goals. Students deepen practical skills in the Geographic Information System (GIS) and/or other research methods and receive additional training in geographic theory and research as preparation.
Graduates pursue a variety of careers such as environmental management, sustainable development, urban planning education, alternative energy, international aid, and geospatial technology.
Students interested in careers in the public, private, or nonprofit sector can select courses that focus on applied research skills and orient their research toward methodological or applied topics.
Students interested in pursuing doctoral studies can select courses to develop theoretical and substantive understandings in their chosen field and focus their master's research in a more scholarly direction.
