About
The Accelerated Master's Program (AMP) in Sociology is an integrated program of B.A./B.S. and M.A., designed for undergraduate students who seek to deepen their knowledge of sociology and gain invaluable research skills before moving into employment or graduate study.
Students who are admitted to the AMP take graduate courses in their senior year and spend an additional year earning a Master of Arts in Sociology.
Our Sociology AMP is especially suited to students who seek positions in social science research organizations (governmental or nonprofit) or who seek additional training in sociological theory and research as preparation for graduate school applications. Our M.A. requirements are sufficiently flexible to allow students to create a program that meets their career and academic goals.
Students interested in research careers can use their elective credits for applied research skills courses and can orient their master's papers toward methodological or applied topics.
Students interested in supplementing their undergraduate records in preparation for doctoral studies at another institution can use their elective credits for theory or substantive courses and orient their master's papers in a more scholarly direction.
