Master of Geographic Information Sciences

About

The Master of Geographic Information Sciences (MGIS) offers students the opportunity to gain skills in geographic information systems (GIS) and remote sensing, two fields that are in high demand.

Geographic information science provides a framework for gathering, managing, and analyzing geospatial data and is an essential tool in many fields, including public health, environmental science, urban planning, food studies, and more.

Our graduates leave with a high-level understanding of GIS concepts, spatial data sources and structures, cartography, remote sensing, and geospatial analysis.

IU Geography is the principal location of training in geographic information systems and remote sensing at Indiana University Bloomington.
