Certificate in Public Relations

About

As traditional media changes, more and more organizations are assuming responsibility for their own communications—and are telling their own stories through news releases, e-newsletters, and social media.

The Certificate in Public Relations offers you professional training in journalism and mass communication with a focus on public relations. In addition to developing skills of writing, reporting, and editing; visual communication; and new-communications technology, you will learn research techniques, analytical thinking, teamwork, and versatility. These are the skills that today's employers are looking for in college graduates.

At IUPUI, you will take courses with expert faculty, do internships, and collaborate with community members on projects outside the classroom—such as PR campaigns. Through these opportunities, you will gain experience that will set you apart in the job market. As a graduate of the program, you might choose to work in a position at a PR firm, corporation, government agency, nonprofit organization, or health and life sciences organization.

This certificate curriculum prepares you to be an effective, ethical communicator regardless of the career path you pursue.
