Urban Education Studies PhD-Law MJ Dual Degree
Offered at IU Indianapolis by School of Education
About
The Urban Education Studies (UES) program prepares scholar-leaders to address the complex challenges of education in urban settings. The program emphasizes advanced research, theory, and practice to help students critically examine and respond to issues facing schools and communities.
Located in downtown Indianapolis, the program offers direct access to urban schools and organizations, enabling students to build partnerships and apply their scholarship in real-world contexts.
Graduates pursue diverse career paths, including roles as university faculty, researchers, policy specialists, school or district leaders, and nonprofit professionals.
Complement your doctoral studies with a foundation and background in law, all in the same amount of credit hours as a normal Ph.D. program. The law courses can apply to your Ph.D. minor or electives. Combining the Master of Jurisprudence with your Ph.D. can help you understand and advocate for laws and policies that address the many issues facing our urban environments.
Note: Students will apply separately to the UES and M.J. program.
This is a non-licensure doctoral program.
