Pediatric Dentistry

Master of Science in Dentistry

About

Various populations have unique oral health needs. Specializing in pediatric dentistry prepares you to meet the developmental and dental care requirements of infants, children, and individuals with special needs.

Pediatric dentists often have the potential to earn more than general dentists due to the complexity and specialization of the services they provide.

As a student in this program, you'll gain expertise in best practices and techniques, graduating with the skills to deliver comprehensive, compassionate care. You'll learn to adapt and tailor services based on smaller oral anatomy, age-related fears, language barriers, and the rapid physical and emotional changes that occur throughout childhood.

In addition to enhancing your clinical practice skills through this program, you'll be qualified to teach.

This two-year program is designed for applicants who hold a D.D.S., D.M.D., or an equivalent degree. Graduates earn a Master of Science in Dentistry along with a clinical certificate in pediatric dentistry.

Courses begin in July and include didactic and clinical coursework, oral and written qualifying exams, and a research project.

You'll need to apply through the American Dental Education Association Postdoctoral Application Support Service (ADEA PASS) and the Postdoctoral Dental Matching Program.

Check the IU School of Dentistry website for application deadlines and more specific program information.
