The program has two tracks and focuses on the following:

  • Politics and schools as organizations

  • Special education
  • Teacher leadership

Initial Licensure track:

Aspiring Teacher Alternative Certification program (ATAC): non-school affiliate or school employee.

District-based Alternative Certification program (DBAC): school affiliate or school employee.

The Elementary ATAC/DBAC program (K-6) begins once a year in the fall semester. Students complete licensure courses and electives. Classes are offered in a hybrid format.

Note: Students must fulfill all Indiana Department of Education licensure requirements.

Urban Education track (non-licensure)

Students are prepared to work in education and non-education settings.
