Dental Hygiene
Offered at IU Northwest by College of Health and Human Services.
About
This is the degree-completion dental hygiene program at IU Northwest.
The IU Northwest (IUN) dental hygiene program prepares students to become clinical dental hygienists.
Dental hygienists are oral healthcare professionals who work collaboratively with dentists to prevent and treat dental disease. Dental hygienists perform oral health assessments, remove biofilm and calculus, apply fluoride and sealants, and educate patients on oral hygiene.
The program at IUN offers a bachelor's degree in dental hygiene, which generally requires four years to complete. Dental hygienists are licensed healthcare providers and must be licensed in each state they practice in, and requirements may vary by state.
