Certificate in Coding Technology

About

This 18 credit hour certificate program trains students to code information using ICD-9-CM, CPT, and HCPCS in the healthcare setting. ICD-10-CM basic coding principles are also covered as part of the program, as well as billing and reimbursement concepts for commercial insurance carriers, Medicare, Medicaid, Tricare, and Workers Compensation. Upon completion of the certificate, students are eligible to sit for the Certified Professional Coder (CPC) Exam administered by the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC). With additional onsite hospital training, students can sit for the Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) exam administered by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA).
