Dental Assisting

Certificate in Dental Assisting

Offered at IU Fort Wayne by IU Fort Wayne.

About

The IU Fort Wayne (IUFW) dental assisting program prepares students to become clinical dental assistants.

Dental assistants are important members of the dental healthcare team who work with dentists in the safe delivery of dental care to patients. Dental assistants have one of the most diverse and interesting positions in the dental office.

The IUFW dental assisting curriculum includes didactic, laboratory, and clinical courses, as well as over 300 hours of clinical experiences in general and specialty dental practices in northeastern Indiana.

The program is offered as a full-time curriculum. It starts each year in the fall and ends with the completion of the program the following summer I semester (38 weeks).

Upon successful completion of program requirements, graduates of the IU Fort Wayne Certified Dental Assisting Program receive a Certificate in Dental Assisting from Indiana University, Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) certification from the Dental Assisting National Board, and Certificates of Completion in Coronal Polishing and Caries Prevention and are eligible to apply for the Indiana State Dental Radiographer Licensure.
