Certificate in Dental Assisting

About

The IU Northwest (IUN) dental assisting program prepares students to become clinical dental assistants.

Dental assistants are important members of the dental healthcare team who work with dentists to deliver patient care. Dental assistants have one of the most diverse and exciting positions in the dental office.

The IUN dental assisting curriculum includes didactic, laboratory, and clinical courses and over 300 hours of clinical experience in general and specialty dental practices in northwest Indiana.

The program is offered as a full-time curriculum. It starts each year in the fall and ends with the completion of the program the following Summer I semester (38 weeks).

Upon successful completion of program requirements, graduates of the IU Northwest accredited Dental Assisting Program will receive a Certificate in Dental Assisting from Indiana University, Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) certification from the Dental Assisting National Board, and a Certificate of Completion in Coronal Polishing and Caries Prevention and are eligible to apply for the Indiana State Dental Radiographer Licensure.
